Editorial Review for Mahal Indian Cuisine – by Marc Weidenbaum

In Short
Like most businesses, this Mahal pales in comparison to its architectural namesake. But the Metairie restaurant has a relaxed environment by any standards. Tables are best for small groups and dates, dishes are served on stark metal plates, and the wine list is select. Service is a solid mix of casual and knowledgeable. Vegetarians will find their share of options, especially the aloo gobi and the deep, tasty saag dishes.

Taj Mahal's menu acknowledges the spreadsheet-like nature of Indian dining: the X axis is the basic dish (spicy, creamy moghlai, various curries, etc.), while the Y axis is the core ingredient (chicken, lamb, seafood), priced accord

We've been to this restaurant 3 times now and the only thing that doesn't get top marks from us is the spice level. I'm not sure if they don't think we can handle it, but we've ordered their spiciest dishes and have not been that impressed. No other complaints besides that. The dining room is small and intimate adorned with nice decorations. Staff is very courteous and efficient.

Pros: Food, People, Settings

Cons: Spiciest dish did not deliver

I think the best food to be had anywhere for dinner in the world right now is in our very own taj mahal in new orleans. I know that not every body like Indian food. I recommend you buttery chicken and lamb kabab, these are the only food I tried, you are free to discover rest. I bet it is not easy to find these rare combinations of spacious, neat atmosphere, delicious food, friendly environment, great service, average price .Ancient environment. It has not so many tables so is good for have a romantic night. and cloes to down town

Pros: close at 10pm

Cons: near to down town
