When I first arrived by taxi I was rather shocked at the outside look of the restaurant. It was in a local neighborhood that you wouldn't think a restaurant should be located in. However, Clancy's was recommended from a concierge in a five star spa in San Diego the week before when I was staying there. So I went in and was pleasantly surprised. You can tell by the first name greeting of people, that there was a lot of local business. It was definitely off the beaten trail. That night the fish of the day was trout. Not what I expected in New Orleans. The waiter said they check for fresh catch daily and if they have good trout they will serve it. IT WAS THE BEST TROUT I EVER HAD. Service was excellent. In my job I eat at a lot of fine restaurants. This one exceeded my expectations. I look forward to going again when I am back in New Orleans.
Pros: Service, Nice and Friendly
Cons: Parking did not look good. Your in a Neighborhood.

Best place in NOLA to have dinner with good friends. Oysters with brie not to be missed. Bar downstairs is small but lots of fun before or after dinner (or both)
Pros: Great food & Service
Cons: Parking is tough

Unbelievable. The most rude, obnoxious and useless door host ever. This elderly, rude and unable man drove us away, we never stayed to enjoy what appeared to be delicious....I'll never know. he forgot the golden, or even silver, rule...DONT FIGHT WITH POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS. Don't waste your time, there are plenty of other places to go.
Pros: Smelled good, looked good
Cons: Never met worse host, not acceptable

I dined here recently with out of town guests. We were seated upstairs, where the temperature was a maximum of 60 degrees. When we requested that the air be turned up, we were given the run around about why the temperature had to remain so low. Our waiter was the most flippant, arrogant server I have ever encountered in all of my years dining in New Orleans. He was condescending and seemed more interested in serving the sorority girls in the next room than our party of six. He forgot drink orders and one of our dessert orders as well, and did not once check with our table after serving each course. My appetizer was delicious (fried green tomatoes with lump crab and Crystal hollandaise), but I would describe the rest of my meal as mediocre at best. I was quite surprised that the out-of-towners did not rave about their meals, either. I've dined at Clancy's in the past, but this experience was enough to make me proclaims "Overrated and Overpriced!"
Pros: Nice atmosphere
Cons: Service and prices

The food was spectacular, the service was great and it was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. There wasn't anything on the menu that didn't sound great and everything we ordered was fantastic. Don't miss this hidden gem uptown. I didn't even know it existed until my husband surprised me for my anniversary.
Pros: Flavor combonations were great.

The smoked soft shell crab is amazing. Oysters with brie is a great appetizer. Seemed to have far fewer tourists than the French Quarter restaurants or Commanders.

No need to feel out of place or unwelcome here. The service is polite and helpful and dignified. You can have a very elegant experience without the stuffiness that other places have. The wine list is enormous for such a small place. And the food is great. The crabmeat salad is unbelievable. They must have a secret stash of 10 lb. crabs somewhere. Make sure to get one of their homemade desserts. Excellent experience.
Pros: lovely neighborhood, great bar
Cons: pricey

First impression: Great neighborhood ambience. Next impression: terrific food. Don't let the limited menu deceive you. Everything we had exceeded expectations. Added bonus, the waitstaff let us sit for almost three hours while we ate, chatted, laughed and enjoyed the whole experience. The fried eggplant appetizer was exceptional. The crab salad was a light lunch. Add dessert and coffee and you have another great NOLA dining experience.
Pros: authentic NOLA, quality food, Warm atmosphere
Cons: limited menu, Crowded at times, somewhat pricey
